Accepting that his pairing with Shania Mirza in the mixed doubles category would be the best bet for India at the London Olympics Mahesh Bhupathi today said that the Indian star player used without even being consulted.
"Absolutely! We have a good record. Recently we won the French Open together," said Bhupathi when asked if he would have liked to play with Shania in the mixed doubles at the London Games.
"She was used without even being consulted about what she was best options are. But I think she cut it all," said Bhupathi 'Times Now'.
Shania, after reaching wildcard for the London Olympics yesterday, struck at AITA to treat it as a 'bait' in the selection sequence. She was also critical of Bhupathi and Leander Paes.
But Bhupathi said he could not fully understand the outburst and was standing next to her.
"Obviously, he issued a very emotional statement and I completely understand where they come from and what happened in the whole thing.
"As far as I concerned, I stand by Shania, and believe that we are the best mixed doubles pair," insisted Bhupathi.
Shania previously said that Bhupathi has been "sacrificed" his commitment to play with her in the Olympics after their French Open title earlier this month.
